Our Story

Koha Community Cafe is a community based project. Based on the Lentil As Anything concept, ANYONE can come and have a meal, pay what they can afford or what they think it is worth. Koha's aim is to promote inclusion, and community self reliance.

The initial project received seed funding from Upper Yarra Community Enterprise (Warburton & Yarra Junction Community Banks). Thanks to them we were able to make it a reality.

Our Mission

To provide a meal that anyone can afford. To provide a space for inclusion, social interaction and community connectedness. To provide opportunities for skills development and networking. To remain sustainable through community ownership and involvement.
To source all produce locally.
Our objectives are:
1. To provide low cost nutritious meals to the community with a focus on provision to those who are economically and socially disadvantaged.
2. To provide opportunities for inclusion for people who are socially isolated and to enable engagement with their community.
3. To actively contribute to building a more inclusive and sustainable community.
4. To create opportunity to support community development and personal empowerment.
